Felice Rix studied at the Wiener Werkstaette under Josef Hoffmann. The aim of the Werkstätte was to renew applied arts and to embellish life using everyday objects designed by artists. Felice was an influential figure in the Japanese modern art scene after she settled in Kyoto with her Japanese husband, architect Isaburo Ueno. The Austrian textile and wallpaper designer became an influential figure in the Japanese modern art scene.
